Phab Nottingham Residential 2019!

Phab Nottingham headed up to the Lake District for a weekend of fun and adventure! Here is a peak at what we got up to

Friday:

On Friday we all met in Nottingham and made the journey North to Kendall in the Lake District. The journey was so fun, with singing, games and silliness. We even had our own competition of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?". Some showed off their colouring skills and others taught makaton singing to songs.

When we got to Bendrigg Lodge, we got settled in, had dinner and headed outside to enjoy the sunshine! We had a campfire and roasted marshmallows, before playing on the low-ropes course and wheelchair-accessible swings and buggies. Then we got settled into our dorm rooms, ready for a day of activities the next day.

Saturday:

Saturday started off with a cooked breakfast, before getting into our groups, ready for activities. We had so much to do! We rotated activities including abseiling down a real quarry, canoeing and a sensory swing; each group had the option to do such exciting activities. Members really pushed themselves to try something new, and grow in confidence in doing so. We also had an on-site artist, who ran felting and a sensory room, for those looking for a more relaxed activity.

That evening, we put on our dancing shoes (and our amazing fancy dress!) and had a disco! We party-ed the night away, dancing to Abba, one direction and other pop classics. The photo-booth was also a hit. Our members showed off their creative flair, with t-shirt decorating. We had the most amazing designs! Watch out Gucci!

Sunday:

We had time for one more activity, before heading back to Nottingham. The weather held off, and we had a great time canoeing, zip-lining and playing on the low-ropes course.

The Phab Nottingham awards ceremony celebrated the achievements of our members over the weekend. They had pushed themselves to do new things, grow in confidence and make new friends. Achievements included spending their first night away from home, trying out activities despite being nervous and helping teach each other new skills.

We headed back to Nottingham, after the most amazing weekend.

Thank you to everyone who came on the trip and made it so special.

See you in the new academic year for another year of fun!
